Garden. Homestead inspiration.
We naturally expand the interior to exterior of our homes. Memories of first plantings were string beans and a peach tree. Embrace connecting visual beauty, functional purpose, and joy from interiors to exteriors via shelves, sills, and gardens.

World of Orchids
Orchids can bring beauty to your indoor and outdoor spaces. When in bloom, they can last 3 or 4 months. Easy starters: phalaenopsis and cymbidium. My favorite orchid by far is the oncidium "sharry baby" which smells like chocolate. They bloom twice a year with small maroon and white flowers. These are easy to grow compared to most oncidium. They have tall spikes and can reach 3 feet long with 75 to 150 flowers per spike. Sometimes you can find them at Trader Joe's. On occasions you may find scented phalaenopsis and cymbidium.
Where to purchase orchids...
Normally the best pricing on these can be found at Trader Joe's or Home Depot and for rare orchids check out Andy’s Orchids.
The potential purification via removal of chemicals within an indoor space is a great reason for the inclusion of select plants.
Here is the NASA Research link to the different plants that can help clean indoor air.
NASA: Interior Landscape Plants for Indoor Air Pollution Abatement
By B.C. Wolverton, PhD
Easy to maintain plants listed in NASA's plant research. Hanging is an Epipremnum aureum (devil's ivy), to the left is Monstera Deliciosa (swiss cheese plant), on the right is Dracaena trifasciata (snake plant), and the pot in the foreground is Dracaena Janet Craig Compacta.
Succulents
Easy to care for, drought tolerant, diverse and intriguing.
Growing from clippings... Cut several stems from mature plants and use them as arrangements in different vessels. Plant after 7 days or wait until tiny roots appear.
